Originally formed in Wheeling, West Virginia in 1990 and reborn in 2019 with a revitalized lineup, Altared States have unleashed four releases in four years while tearing through venues across the Northeast. Following up last year’s album Borrowed Time, the band’s upcoming release Last Rites shows they’re only getting heavier with time. Signed by Poland’s Metallurg and featured in the April 2026 edition of Decibel, Altared States are hotter than ever. Thrash survives because bands like this refuse to quit.

Their latest 2025 EP, Blighted, pushes their savage blend of death, thrash, grind, and hardcore even further into the gutter.
