The psoas has been called the “muscle of the soul”, a deep core connector that holds us upright, ties spine to legs, and often carries the echoes of our stress, fear, and lived experience. But beyond the metaphors, the psoas is pure anatomy: woven into the spine, pelvis, diaphragm, and hip flexors, influencing how we breathe, stand, and move.In this two-hour Friday night workshop, we’ll unravel the stories the psoas tells through both science and sensation. You’ll learn the anatomy of this deep muscle; where it lives, how it functions, and why it often grips and braces. Then, through a guided practice of movement, breath, and nervous system awareness, we’ll explore what it means to release rather than force.
Expect a blend of:
Anatomical insight: Understand the psoas’ relationship with your spine, pelvis, diaphragm, and nervous system.
Somatic awareness: Notice the subtle cues of tension, bracing, and softening.
Movement exploration: A progression from grounding practices to gentle unraveling, creating space through hips, core, and breath.
Integration: End with restorative stillness to let the nervous system recalibrate.
You don’t need to be flexible or “know your anatomy” — just bring curiosity and an openness to listen to what your body is holding (and what it might be ready to let go).
