On Thursday, August 21 at 9:00 AM, Friends of the St. Clair River invites you to join us for a shoreline walk that traces a revolution in bloom. We’ll depart from the Blue Water River Walk, 51 Court Street in Port Huron, across ground once written off, now alive with color, sound, and promise.Restoration is a quiet kind of revolution—slow, steady, and rooted in belief. What was once forgotten has begun to flourish.
Over the last decade, nearly $5 million in federal Great Lakes Restoration Initiative funding has helped turn St. Clair River shoreline concrete and contamination into corridors of native plants, nesting birds, and clean flowing water. The transformation is real, but it is still unfolding.
Now, as we advocate to reauthorize the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Act of 2025 for another 5 years for St. Clair County, Friends of the St. Clair River is asking you to walk with us once more.
This moment is more than policy. It is stewardship and pride for our turquoise waters.
Lite breakfast and lunch drinks and food are provided. Shuttle service is provided between sites. RSVP is required. Please RSVP to [email protected].
