THIS IS NOT LEARN-TO-PLAY GOLF.
All Scouts planning to earn the Golf merit badge should already know how to play.
REVIEW THE GOLF MERIT BADGE REQUIREMENTS AT https://www.scoutshop.org/mbp-golf-ebook-656034.htmlWe are playing 2 rounds of 9-holes for Requirement 2F on two separate days because it takes 3-hour average to play one round of 9-holes.(A) September 22 at Los Verdes Golf Course.(B) October 06 at Los Verdes Golf Course.

1) Scout CLASS A Uniform.
2) Closed toed and closed heeled shoes.

WHAT TO BRING ON GOLF DAY:
1) Blue Card - signed by your Scoutmaster / Designated Unit Adult Leader.
2) Scouting Essentials for a day at the golf course. Read your golf merit badge booklet for details if you’re unsure.
3) If you have outgrown your golf clubs or you don’t have your own for any reason, bring $55 to rent a set from the Pro Shop.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON GOLF DAY:
**SHOW AND TELL BY SCOUT on the following requirements of the Golf merit badge:
GOLF REQUIREMENT #1: DISCUSS safety on the golf course. SHOW that you know first aid for injuries or illnesses that could occur while golfing, including heat reactions, dehydration, blisters, sprains, and strains.
GOLF REQUIREMENT #2: Study the USGA "Rules of Golf" now in use. TELL about the three categories of golf etiquette. DEMONSTRATE that you understand the definitions of golf terms. SHOW that you understand the "Rules of Amateur Status."
GOLF REQUIREMENT #3: TELL about your understanding of the World Handicap System.
GOLF REQUIREMENT #4: TELL about the early history of golf. DESCRIBE golf's early years in the United States. TELL about the accomplishments of a top golfer of your choice.
GOLF REQUIREMENT #5: DISCUSS with your counselor vocational opportunities related to golf.
GOLF REQUIREMENT #6: TELL how golf can contribute to a healthy lifestyle, mentally and physically. TELL how a golf exercise plan can help you play better. SHOW two exercises that would help improve your game.
GOLF REQUIREMENT #7: SHOW the following:
(a) The proper grip, stance, posture, and key fundamentals of a good swing.
(b) The full wood shot, played from a tee.
(c) The fairway wood shot.
(d) The long iron shot.
(e) The short iron shot.
(f) The approach, chip-and-run, and pitch shots.
(g) A recovery shot from a bunker or heavy rough.
(h) A sound putting stroke
GOLF REQUIREMENT #8: PLAY a minimum of TWO nine-hole rounds or one 18-hole round of golf with another golfer about your age and with your counselor, or an adult approved by your counselor. DO the following:
(a) Follow the "Rules of Golf."
(b) Practice good golf etiquette.
(c) Show respect to fellow golfers, committee, sponsor, and gallery.

1) This Golf Merit Badge Event is a SHOW-AND-TELL BY SCOUTS on TWO SUNDAYS AT TWO GOLF COURSES: SEPTEMBER 22 and OCTOBER 06 at LOS VERDES GOLF COURSE - AFTER 3:00 PM.
3) NO REFUNDS - Cost pays for your Tee Time on TWO SUNDAYS: SEPTEMBER 22 and OCTOBER 06.
