Merced Ave Greenway Project: Phase 2 - Community Bike Ride

Join ActiveSGV for a tour of the Merced Ave Greenway Project - Phase 2!

The Merced Ave Greenway project aims to demonstrate how street design can combat rising temperatures, increase pedestrian/bicyclist safety, and improve local water quality. A neighborhood-scale project like Merced Avenue is intended to provide a real-world model of watershed-based design that integrates many ongoing efforts in the region to address flood management, water quality and habitat restoration.

The community bike ride will start and end at the Jeff Seymour Family Center, 10900 Mulhall St, El Monte, CA 91731. The ride will follow the San Gabriel River Bike Path to the majestic Whittier Narrows Recreational Area and then we'll tour of the Merced Ave Greenway Phase 2 project location.

Date: Saturday, April 26, 2025

Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00PM

Start/End: Jeff Seymour Family Center (10900 Mulhall St, El Monte, CA 91731)

Route: 15.8 miles with 232ft of elevation gain

Experience Level: Intermediate

What to Bring:

• A helmet is required if under 18
• A functional bicycle or wheeled device (highly recommended with gears)
• Additional cash/credit to purchase food
• Water Bottle filled with water!
• Bikes with training wheels are not permitted, but children are welcome to attend if pulled in a trailer or on-bike child seat.

E-Bike Reservations:

• Reserve a FREE GoSGV e-bike to guarantee your spot!
• ID is required to use a reserved e-bike (restrictions apply).

Important Notes:

• Pre-registration is required for ALL participants (including family members).
• Bikes with training wheels are not permitted, but children are welcome in trailers or on-bike child seats.
• All participants must sign a waiver. A parent/guardian must sign for minors.
• Rain Policy: We will contact you 24 hours in advance to confirm or cancel the ride in case of rain.

Parking: Plenty of on-street parking is aviable but be mindful of parking restrictions
