About this Event
Free Dinner & Presentation for Carbon & Emery Counties
This interactive dinner and Changing Our Mental & Emotional Trajectory (COMET) Training shares local data on coal mining and mental health, and offers practical, evidence-based actions participants can use to support and improve mental health and social connection.
COMET encourages supportive interactions among peers, aligning with rural values of neighbor helping neighbor. COMET strives to lessen our fear of engaging in potentially sensitive conversations and reduce the stigma of talking about mental, emotional and behavioral health.
COMET training aligns with rural cultural values of neighbor helping neighbor and communities being their own best resource. Via COMET, community members learn how to initiate a supportive interaction for a potentially emotional conversation using a simple, conversational seven-question guide.
