The Central New York Chapter of the Society for HR Management (CNY SHRM) is offering a program for our members on May 31, 2024 entitled “Mental Health for All: Addressing Inequity in the Workforce”.

According to a January 2024 Mental Health in the Workplace survey, most employees (74%) indicated that it is appropriate to discuss mental health at work, but 58% reported not feeling comfortable disclosing their personal mental health struggles.

This gap in understanding of mental health, access to resources, and the confidence needed to engage in difficult conversations are frequently topics that employees look to their Human Resources departments for. As many as 85% of respondents in the same survey indicated that HR should be responsible for helping employees feel comfortable discussing mental health at work. Are you prepared to support an employee who is struggling with mental health? Join Jae for a candid conversation about mental health and the power of empathy.

Learning Objectives:
Define mental illness and mental health using both clinical and culturally aware frameworks.
Explore general and identity-based trends in mental health in the workplace.
Consider the role that HR has in affecting company culture around employee mental health.
Introduce skills for approaching individual mental health conversations in the workplace.
