About this Event
Event Description:
Join the Village of New Lenox and the New Lenox Safe Communities America Coalition, in partnership with Sertoma Star Services, for a FREE Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) class on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 8:30am to 4:30pm at the New Lenox Village Hall Community Room.
Lunch will be provided for all attendees.
This comprehensive, 8-hour training is designed for behavioral health professionals, social workers, counselors, first responders, and anyone interested in making a difference. Participants will learn how to identify the warning signs of major depression, suicidal behavior, non-suicidal self-injury, and substance use disorders. The course also covers the history of Mental Health First Aid in the United States and provides practical tools—including the MHFA Action Plan—to confidently support individuals experiencing mental health or substance-related crises.
Whether you work in the field or simply want to better support those around you, this training equips you with the knowledge and skills to take action when it matters most.
