signs of mental health and substance use challenges!
About this Event
Mental Health First Aid certification provides a 3-year certification. It will teach you how to recognize the signs and symptoms that suggest a potential mental health challenge, how to listen nonjudgmentally and give reassurance to whom may be experiencing a mental health challenge, and how to refer a person to appropriate professional support and services.
Mental Health First Aid was created in Australia in 2000 by Betty Kitchener, an educator and mental health consumer, and Professor Tony Jorm, a mental health researcher. In 2008, the National Council, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and the Missouri Department of Mental Health brought Mental Health First Aid to the United States.

Giving Back - Annie's Kindness Blankets
We have also partnered with Annie's Kindness Blankets. We will during our time together make blankets to support such an important cause. Annie's Kindness Blankets is a pay it forward kindness campaign founded by the Varney sister's after they lost their mom to suicide. Since then, the AKB Team has grown to include 8 women who are dedicated to #bethevoice and help stop the stigma around depression & suicide. The purpose is to send an everlasting hug to anyone that may need. To let others know they are never alone. After we make these easy to make fleece blankets we will send along to the AKB team to distribute appropriately or keep ourself!
