Mental Health Awareness Training for the VCSE
About this Event
On Wednesday 7 October 2026, 1-4pm the Supported Volunteering Project at York CVS and Converge at York St John University are working together to offer staff and volunteers of local VCSE organisations a unique opportunity to understand more about mental health, its impact on wellbeing, and how to respond to mental health concerns in VCSE environments.
Once individuals have signed up to the trainning the full programme for the afternoon will be developed. We anticipate that it could include a variety of topics, that delegates are welcome to express a preference for:
What is mental health
Different mental health conditions
Recognising signs and symptoms if someone is struggling
Reducing stigma and misconceptions about mental ill health
Approaching, communicationg with, or working alongside someone struggling with their mental health
Boundaries and confdentiality
Responding to a mental health crisis
Signposting or referral options.
There will also be plenty of opportunity for discussion, questions, and refrehments!
