Men's Walk and Talk
About this Event
Men’s Walk, Talk & Sea DipDarren Jefferies, Evolve Training Club, SwanseaDate:
Saturday 26h SeptemberTime: 8:00am – 9:30am
Meeting point: Oystermouth Castle Entrance (Ostreme Centre)
We’ll start with a relaxed walk, through Mumbles, giving men an opportunity to get outside, move, meet other blokes and have a conversation, before finishing together with a dip in the sea. There’s no workshop and no forced vulnerability. Nobody is going to be made to stand in a circle and tell strangers their deepest secrets. If deeper conversations happen, brilliant. If you spend the whole walk talking absolute rubbish and laughing, that’s brilliant too.Because connection itself matters.
What to bring: Water, comfortable walking shoes/trainers, weather-appropriate clothing, something to wear for the sea dip, a towel and ideally some warm/dry clothes for afterwards. The sea dip is completely optional – nobody has to get in!
About:I’m Darren Jefferies, owner of Evolve Training Club in Swansea, former Royal Marine Commando, husband, dad and men’s work facilitator, Movember Community Ambassador & coach.A huge part of what we try to create at Evolve goes beyond simply getting people fitter. It’s about community, connection and giving people somewhere they genuinely feel like they belong. That’s become particularly important to me when it comes to men’s mental health.Men are notoriously good at saying 'I’m fine' when we’re anything but. And I don’t necessarily think the answer is always sitting men down in a room and asking them to talk about their feelings.Sometimes it’s simply about creating the right environment for those conversations to happen naturally.Get outside. Move. Train. Walk. Have a laugh. Be around other men. Talk if you want to talk and know that someone is there if you need them. That’s really the thinking behind what I’m bringing to Wellfest.
