Menopause, ADHD and Womanhood: The Regenerative Years
About this Event
A great conversation you can't miss!
Dinner and A Chat aims to create third spaces for life-long learners, inspire dialogue, and promote health and well-being all while enjoying a good meal with excellent company.
This Dinner and A Chat is especially curated for anyone who wants to better understand the regenerative years in a woman's life, which the Japanese refer to as konenki. We've lined up 3 experts who will shift the narrative on menopause and inspire us to consider this stage as an inward shift of energy, self-discovery, and a vibrant new chapter of life.
We have an incredible ALL WOMEN EXPERT PANEL who will provide engaging chats that will touch on the following learning objectives:
:
- Identify the overlapping symptoms of perimenopause and ADHD
- Explain why ADHD symptoms can worsen during perimenopause
- Explain the clear biological mechanism behind why ADHD symptoms can surface during menopause
:
- Explain why menopausal women may experience weight gain and the role of GLP-1s
- Explain the impact of menopause on alcohol use versus the impact of alcohol on menopausal women
- Comment on the impact of menopause on alcohol use versus the impact of alcohol on menopausal women
:
- Describe the impact of hormonal changes in the menopausal transition on symptoms of ADHD, including executive dysfunction, emotional dysregulation, working memory deficits, and sleep challenges
- Comment on the clinical challenges health and mental health professionals may face when diagnosing and managing ADHD during perimenopause and menopause, and recognize how the hormonal transition may unmask previously compensated ADHD in midlife women
- Learn at least 3 cognitive-behavioral interventions that can support women with ADHD in managing their symptoms during the menopausal transition as an adjunct to hormonal and psychiatric supports
