Mend+Matter with the City of Ventura
About this Event
Mend + Matter is a community gathering that brings together hands-on mending and conversations that matter — all in a welcoming, creative environment.
We invite attendees to bring garments or textiles in need of repair - TIGEROWL will be mending from 6-8pm. At 6:30pm we'll have a free ~45-minute talk from a featured community member/organization who shares insight on topics related to climate, sustainability, and systems change — sparking dialogue, curiosity, and action.
Whether you come to have your belongings mended, to listen, or just to connect — you’re welcome.

📢 Our topic for the night, 'City of Ventura Environmental Sustainability: Empowering a Greener Community'
The City of Ventura Public Works' Environmental Sustainability Division is on a mission to create a more climate‑resilient community. Join City staff to learn about the recently adopted Climate Action and Resilience Plan, the importance of SB 1383 and how to participate, services offered by the Environmental Sustainability Division, and ways to get involved with climate action.
More about our speakers:
Logan Babcock is an Environmental Services Specialist at the City of Ventura, where she advances sustainability initiatives focused on renewable energy, waste diversion, and climate resilience. She holds a Masters in Environmental Science and Management from UC Santa Barbara’s Bren School, specializing in Energy and Climate, Corporate Environmental Management, and Strategic Communications, and a B.S. in Environmental Management and Protection from Cal Poly. Prior to the City of Ventura, Logan served as an Environmental Defense Fund Climate Corps Fellow. Logan spends her free time soaking in the sun, reading, and knitting.
Nahi Arreola-Bittner (she/they) is an Environmental Sustainability Assistant with the City of Ventura. Their role focuses on community engagement and outreach for the City of Ventura's Environmental Service Programs, as well as planning city events with the goal of making sustainable living and waste reduction more accessible. She studied at UCLA and holds a degree in Geography and Environmental Studies. Prior to this role, they worked as a Milkweed and Monarch Project Lead with the Santa Monica Mountains Fund, hosting milkweed giveaway events across the San Fernando Valley to increase monarch habitat in urban environments, with a focus on hosting events in park-poor and underserved communities. In their off time, they enjoy going to their local night and farmers market, spending time with friends and family, and riding their bike on the LA River bike path.
