Mend with Friends: Alterations Show & Tell and Clinic
About this Event
Alterations give us agency to adjust our clothing to our unique and ever-changing bodies, and therefore keep them in use for longer. It’s also a form of self-expression! If you’ve made an alteration that you are proud of, bring it and share your story and techniques! If you’re stuck on an alteration project or don’t know where to start, this is the event for you too.
What to bring:
- Needles, pins, thread, embroidery thread, fabric scraps, if you have them
- One or more items of clothing to mend/alter
What to expect:
We will provide some basic materials and tools to borrow
Little Dreamers sells coffee and pastries next door - an opportunity to support a local business!
- 9:55am - Doors open: Sign in, mingle, find a seat, feel free to start sewing
- 10:10am - Workshop begins: Show & tell about your successful alteration project or a work-in-progress. We can collectively problem-solve issues and answer questions or demo techniques.
- 11am-12pm - Time to work on your own mending/alterations projects, and receive help as needed.
Art League Houston is graciously hosting this workshop! To attend, please RSVP here. Seating is limited, but a waitlist will be opened if necessary.
Participation is free, but support is welcome via cash donation, Venmo, snacks, and supplies... or talk to us about leading a future workshop!
