About this Event
Passionate about sustainability and fashion? Looking to spend less on clothes and keep yours lasting longer? Just like the idea of sewing in a park on a Saturday Morning?
We invite you to join us on April 25th for Fashion Revolution's Mend in Public Day.
We'll be gathering at Monarch Park to enjoy the outdoors, mend some clothes, and help disrupt the fast-fashion industry stitch by stitch. We'll at one of the benches sharing sewing and darning supplies.
AGE APPROPRIATE FOR: All Ages
LEVEL: Beginner-no prior experience necessary.
TOOLS AND MATERIALS TO SHARE:
- Embroidery thread and notions
- Yarn
- Darning needles
- Embroidery hoops
- Elastic bands
- DIY darning mushroom and eggs alternatives
- Practice fabric for new learners
Monarch Park:
This is an unofficial meet up in a public space. City of Toronto doesn't allow us to book tables or picnic areas earlier than May so we're just showing up and hanging out.
Monarch Park has a playground, park benches, and washrooms available (though we're not 100% sure if the washrooms are open this time of year).
We ask that anyone joining in our Mend in Public gathering please be respectful of the park. Please clean up after yourself, don't litter, and help us leave the park as good or better than when you arrived. We are not responsible for your behaviour in the park. Darning Workshop @ Mischief Makers

Info: At 247 Coxwell Ave, Alex (he/they) will teach you the basics of mending knit fabrics. Mending not only extends the life of your garment, but visibly tells the story of it's use. You will learn to weave beautiful patches onto clothes, or how to darn from the back for a more subtle approach.
