Euclid is gearing up for a memorable Memorial Day as the City of Euclid and our local veterans organizations host the 93rd annual Memorial Day Parade and Graveside Services on Monday, May 25th. This year's events promise to be a poignant tribute to those who have sacrificed their lives for our nation’s freedom, with new and exciting additions to the schedule in honor of America's 250th birthday! The day will begin solemnly with graveside services at 8:00 am at Euclid Cemetery and then St. Paul's Cemetery. These services offer a quiet moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day, honoring the brave veterans laid to rest in our community.
Following the graveside services, at 10am, the much-anticipated parade will kick off. As always, community involvement is at the heart of this event. Businesses, clubs, sports teams, and even families are encouraged to participate by creating floats. Whether it's a grand display or a decorated wagon, creativity and community spirit are the only requirements.
Excitement is particularly high this year with the introduction of a ceremonial flyover by two U.S .Air Force F-15s.
Previous years' parades saw the streets of Euclid lined with spectators waving flags and cheering for the procession of veterans' organizations, high school bands, and community groups. The parade was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by those in the Armed Forces, and this year promises to continue that proud tradition by "Honoring the past, Inspiring the future."
Following the parade, a ceremony will take place at the Veterans Memorial outside Euclid Public Library. The event will include speeches from notable figures and a moving wreath-laying ceremony.
Our Euclid veterans organizations invite everyone to join in this day of remembrance and community. It’s a time to come together, reflect, and express our gratitude for the selfless service of our veterans. Whether you’re participating in the parade or watching from the sidelines, your presence is a tribute to those who have given everything for our freedom.
