WHAT:
o Led by Coach Brian Shea, this is an open water ocean swim open to anyone w/ the ability to swim >500yds, unassisted.
o It is up to 1-hour in duration over a 500-meter (+/-) loop, off the beach in Long Branch.
o The course is marked by buoys, which offer a great opportunity to practice sighting & navigation.
o You can do as little/much as you like, as long as you're finished within 1-hour of start time.
o This will be a GUARDED ocean swim w/ no fewer than (2) lifeguards present (physically in the water, watching you on a board/kayak).

*This address will bring you within 50m of the entrance to the beach where we meet...but the closer you can park to the beach, the better.
We will be meeting at the lifeguard stand, directly in front of Chelsea Ave (Pier Village)
Metered parking is available in/around Pier Village (I STRONGLY recommend downloading the https://flowbirdapp.com/app if you intend to come frequently).
Parking is FREE until 10am & then hourly, after that.
COST:
o Suggested Donation: $10 /swim OR (3) swims for $20 (covers cost of lifeguards at every swim)
o There will be a labeled canister located on the lifeguard stand where we meet, please contribute your $ there.
MISC:
o Water temperatures are expected to be anywhere from 50-60F & wetsuits are STRONGLY recommended. If you are in need of a wetsuit, wetsuit rentals can be processed here:

*Please include HEIGHT/WEIGHT in the notes as well as the date the suit is needed (i.e. The date of the clinic/swim you're planning on attending)
**Please do this as early as possible before requested date (ideally >48-hours)
Wetsuit rental is billed at $25 /day.
o This will be a guarded swim, but all swimmers should be comfortable swimming in excess of 500m in deep water, without stopping & NOT require the assistance of the lifeguard (he/she is there for rescues in extenuating circumstances).

Who is Coach Brian?
o Brian Shea comes to the program with a wealth of experience in endurance sports as an athlete, coach and consultant. He is the Founder & Header Coach of the Jersey Shore Masters & for over 25 years, has competed in all levels of endurance sports from 5K to Ultra-marathon Swims/Runs to Ironman.
o He has raced/won triathlons in the United States & abroad with multiple Ironman finishes including Ironman Hawaii with Personal Bests of:
5k - 15:54
Marathon - 2:49
Ironman - 9:31
Most recently, Brian has (8) Top-10 finishes at the 9-mile Annual Swim for Alligator Light (Islamorada FL) as well as podium finishes (M40-49) at the United States Lifesaving Association National Championships.
o On the coaching side, Brian is a certified coach having formulated training and sports nutrition programs for athletes ranging from beginner to professional.
