As the chill of winter subsides, leaving earth and air receptive to the awakenings of spring, “Ten Songs (Plus One or Two)” moves with the seasons and embraces the vernal equinox, ushering in music by Low, Los Lobos and Suzanne Vega redolent of sleepy-eyed contentment and dreamy wonder. Lest that sound a bit New Age woo woo, post-punk visionaries XTC break the ice with angular guitars, Dusty Springfield entices with sultry morning-after temptations and Daniel Lanois finds himself in the devil’s bed, all part of a playlist more comforting than the ring of the alarm clock. Insomniacs, take heart: Dylan couldn’t sleep a wink last night, either.
