“Mela Muter brings honour to Polish art and the École de Paris.”
— Jean-Pierre
🎨 Join me for a passionate guided tour of the most eagerly anticipated exhibition of the year in Poland, at the country's most beautiful art gallery — Villa la Fleur in Konstancin-Jeziorna!
It has been 30 years since Mela Muter had a major monographic exhibition in Poland. This time, we will see more than 220 works and objects, making this the largest exhibition ever devoted to this extraordinary artist.
🎨 Mela Muter's art is much more than simply “beautiful” — it is truthful.
She never idealised faces or turned away from old age, exhaustion or the hardships of life. She painted ordinary people with extraordinary sensitivity: mothers with children, fishermen, and inhabitants of small towns and rural communities.
Although she came from a wealthy Warsaw family, she possessed a remarkable social sensitivity. There is no sentimentality in her paintings. Instead, we find dignity, empathy and a profound conviction that every human life deserves attention.
🔥 Her own life was a remarkable story of breaking free from the roles imposed upon her.
Mela's arranged marriage soon proved to be an unhappy match. In Paris, however, she gradually and courageously forged her own identity, both as an artist and as a woman.
She discovered independence, passion and intense love through her relationships with fascinating men, particularly Raymond Lefebvre.
Her biography is so compelling preciselybecause, rather than remaining in the comfortable, secure world that patriarchal society had prepared for her, she consistently sought her own path, with remarkable intellectual freedom and determination.
❤️ It looks as though we are about to relive the unforgettable experiences of the Tamara de Lempicka exhibitions, when so many of you travelled to Lublin, Konstancin and Kraków to join my passionate guided tours!
🖼️ The exhibition “Mela Muter. Empathising with the World” is curated by Ewa Bobrowska, Alice S. Legé and Artur Winiarski.
It is a joint project by Villa la Fleur and the Musée de Montmartre, organised to celebrate the artist's 150th birthday.
🇫🇷 I have already had the pleasure of sharing my passion for this phenomenal artist during exhibitions in Paris and Poznań.
I am also planning a special trip to Paris to explore the places connected with her extraordinary life, as well as a walking tour through Warsaw following the footsteps of her youth.
📅 Please note that the date of the guided tour may change.
Tickets for my guided tours will first be offered to members of my WhatsApp community, followed by subscribers to my mailing list, and finally announced on social media.
If you would like to join my WhatsApp group or mailing list, please send me a private message.
See you for an unforgettable guided tour filled with passion for art! 🎨
