From entertaining fellow soldiers during World War II to honing his skills as a Catskills tummler, Brooklyn-born Mel Brooks rose to become one of the most influential figures in American comedy. After breaking into television as a writer on the landmark series Your Show of Shows, he went on to co-create the classic spy sitcom Get Smart. His Academy Award–winning film The Producers launched a legendary movie career that produced enduring classics like Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, followed by a celebrated second act on Broadway.
Entertainment historian John Kenrick returns to pull back the curtain on the remarkable life and career of a comic legend who, as he approaches his 100th birthday, is still creating and making audiences laugh.
