Mel Botes presents the Sultans of Swing - a Dire Straits Tribute show

Electric and acoustic guitar maestro Mel Botes returns to café Roux, one of South Africa’s longest-running live music venues, with ‘Sultans of Swing’, a Dire Straits tribute show. Joined by legendary Cape Town keyboard player Simon Orange, Mel and Simon will be performing familiar hits and deep cuts from one of the most successful album catalogues of the 1980s and 90s. They’ll be playing songs like ‘Walk of Life’, ‘Private Investigations’, ‘Calling Elvis’, and many more.
Mel has made a focused study of Mark Knopfler’s unique fingerstyle guitar technique and he has presented the results at venues all across South Africa, from intimate settings to large festival stages. Simon uses the rock, blues, and jazz keyboard textures that moved Dire Straits’ sound from a guitar blues band into a cinematic, sophisticated stadium powerhouse.
