Megaphone Breakfast Fundraising 2024

Join us along with 125+ industry professionals as we enjoy a catered breakfast, keynote speech by award-winning journalist Michelle Cyca, and celebrate our Vendor of the Year and Angel Gates Memorial Award recipient with us!

Michelle Cyca (she/her) is a journalist, essayist and literary critic. She is a senior editor with The Narwhal and a contributing writer to The Walrus, for which she received a National Magazine Award in 2024 for best column. Her feature story, The Curious Case of Gina Adams, received a National Magazine Award in 2023 for investigative journalism, and was published in April 2024 as a limited-edition hardcover by Hingston & Olsen. Her writing can be found in Best Canadian Essays 2025 and the anthology Points of Interest, and has also appeared in The Globe & Mail, The Guardian, Maclean's and Chatelaine.

The Megaphone Breakfast exists to honour our Vendor of the Year, a vendor who demonstrates leadership, community building, and Megaphone’s mission. The Angel Gates Memorial award is in honour of an incredible vendor, community pillar, and advocate who passed away in 2022, this award will be given to a vendor who exemplifies Angel’s positivity, creativity, and spirit.

Tickets include a catered breakfast, beverages and ample time to network with community and industry leaders!

• The Translink Canada Line and various buses [translink.ca] are a convenient choice of transportation
• Onsite pay parking is available in an Easy Park Lot https://www.easypark.ca/find-parking/locations-and-lot-information/lot-details/roundhouse-community-centre, as well as on street parking
• Wheelchair accessible washrooms are available on the main floor
• Accessibility audit of the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre conducted by Radical Access Mapping Project available here (thank you PuSh Festival for this resource!)
• The event will be held in the exhibition hall, on the main floor which is accessible from the street or by elevator from the parking lot.
