FOCUS Springfield Community TV is asking Springfield residents to submit questions for this year’s CITY ELECTIONS!!!!!At 5:30 on Wednesday 8/27, people are invited to gather at the newly unveiled community space located in Tower Square Park which White Lion Brewing Company has named “The Pride-lands”.
“Meet The Candidates” will begin promptly at 6 PM and is sponsored by Focus Springfield Community TV, Tower Square & White Lion Brewery.
New England has a history where potential leaders would gather in town squares, stand on a soap box or a table and speak loudly to introduce themselves and their platforms. This event will feature a more comfortable venue with microphones, so there’s no need to shout. And there will be White Lion Beer as well...
Small groups of At-Large and Ward candidates will take turns sitting on chairs inside the new and artfully decorated container structures. Commonwealth Murals worked with Artist name here and they are beautiful indeed…
Moderator Mike Dobbs will invite up to five candidates at a time for a “Lightning Round” type Q+A that should be both informative and, honestly - kind of fun. Candidates will deliver short responses and the event will move quickly.
THIS IS NOT A DEBATE. The idea is to get to know candidates & their platforms.
Your question can be directed at a specific candidate, or be a general question for each City Council and/or School Committee candidate. Please specify the At-Large or Ward candidate if it’s not a general question for all.
