Synopsis
In the frozen, wind-scoured town of Frozen Balls, North Dakota, deer hunting season begins with ten hunters disappearing without explanation. The first victim reappears in a viral video: a man trapped in a steel cage and mauled by a bear. The masked killer calls himself The Hunter of Hunters, turning murder into spectacle and ideology into entertainment. Noon to 2:00 works for me..
Among those watching are Rob Nyugen and Richard “Dick” Johnson, best friends and co-owners of Dick ’N Rob’s Bar and Grill. Dick is impulsive, theatrical, and obsessed with Batman mythology. Rob is restrained, pragmatic, and deeply uncomfortable with attention. When law enforcement pursues a false lead at an abandoned missile site, Dick recognizes graffiti in the killer’s video that he himself wrote years earlier in the Brown Hills forest caves.
Against Rob’s objections, the two don homemade vigilante identities and go to the caves alone. They find the real site and rescue the remaining hunters, but the killer escapes.
Law enforcement identifies the suspect as Ben N. DeForest, a soft-spoken wildlife conservationist with a long history of ideological conflict with hunters. When Sheriff Withers leads a raid on Ben’s home, the house reveals itself as a carefully constructed trap. Withers and his team are killed. Ben flees.
Driven by rage and a need for completion, Dick pursues Ben alone and kills him. And thus the legend of a Batman and Robin knockoff duo is born.
