Melanie Sue Bowles is the founder of Proud Spirit Horse Sanctuary. In operation for nearly 35 years, and one of the most successful, longest existing facilities for at-risk horses in the United States. Melanie is the author of three non-fiction books which chronicle the early years of Proud Spirit. The books were the inspiration for an Emmy Award winning full length documentary featured on PBS. More recently, Melanie has veered into fiction for younger readers. Fundamentally for kids, LIBERTY BISCUIT and the stand-alone sequel LITTLE PEARL have been touching the hearts of animal lovers of all ages."
