ScaleTrains™, a manufacturer of HO, N, and S Scale model trains, will be visiting the Ozarks Model Railroad Association for a Meet & Greet on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024 at 6:40PM. The event will take place at the White River Tap Room (Address: 505 W. Commercial St. Springfield, MO 65803). The doors open at 6:40PM and everyone is welcome to the event. This will be the model train maker’s only visit to the area during the Road Trip.
The Ozarks Model Railroad Association, formed in 1978, is a prominent group in Springfield, MO, dedicated to the HO scale. The association’s detailed layouts feature the diverse geography and railroads of the Ozarks region, offering a realistic and immersive experience. Known for its dynamic meetings at the White River Tap Room, the association actively engages with the community through public exhibitions, workshops, and its annual train show, drawing enthusiasts from across the region.
The event is part of the model train maker’s “Road Trip”: a 50 State tour that allows ScaleTrains to visit with train enthusiasts across the United States. The Road Trip is the first of its kind in the model railroad hobby industry and is helping the company to connect with people in a personal way.
During a Meet & Greet, ScaleTrains displays their latest model trains and encourages attendees to pick them up for a closer look. The company typically spends about an hour sharing their story, along with presenting a video about how model trains are made, and a Q&A session where participants can ask questions. ScaleTrains will also have gift bags and giveaways, so no one leaves empty handed.
“In 2020, we began talking about how to reach people in areas of the country that do not have a national level or large regional train show,” said Shane Wilson, President of ScaleTrains.com. “Over time, the idea evolved into also exhibiting at regional train shows; attending special events at railroad museums; setting-up at full-scale railroad festivals; hosting train-watching days at railfan hotspots; and more. With that, the Road Trip was born,” said Wilson.
ScaleTrains was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Cleveland, Tennessee. The company offers several brands of model trains including Museum Quality™, Rivet Counter™, Operator™, Fox Valley Models™, Kit Classics™, and S-Helper Service™. ScaleTrains also specializes in three sizes: HO, N, and S Scale. Its model railroad products currently include diesel locomotives, steam locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars, and more.
“We look forward to sharing our favorite hobby with the Ozarks Model Railroad Association. The group is all about sharing their love of trains and introducing new generations to the hobby. That's what the Road Trip is all about. It will be great to meet with everyone there,” said Wilson. He continued: “This will be a fun event for all.”
