Meet and Greet: Sarah Muwanga Tethered - Where the Line Holds
About this Event
Venue: CasildART Contemporary
Date and Time: July 4 2026 at 2pm - 4pm (BST)
Join us for a glass of prosecco and an informal afternoon in the gallery as we introduce Tethered: Where the Line Holds, the debut solo exhibition by emerging British‑Ugandan artist Sarah Muwanga.
This special meet‑and‑greet offers the chance to spend time with Sarah and experience her work up close. A self‑taught artist, Sarah’s canvases hold the intimacy of Black womanhood — figures drawn from memory, longing, and the quiet ceremonies of everyday life. Working in oil and acrylic, she renders her subjects with a boldness that commands attention.
For this exhibition, Sarah presents a new body of work, including five paintings created exclusively for the show, deepening her exploration of the figure as a site of grounding, belonging and quiet force.
The exhibition title moves in dual motion. Tethered speaks both to anchoring and to the subtle constraints that shape how presence is negotiated. Her figures stand assured, occupying space with confidence and an unspoken authority, even as the title gestures toward the pressures, dependencies and frictions that shape that stance. Where the Line Holds extends this tension into her material language — the insistent outline, the mark that refuses to yield, signalling the labour of maintaining selfhood with steadiness and resolve.
Drop in between 2pm and 4pm to meet the artist, explore the work, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon in the gallery.
All works on display are available for purchase.
Your ticket includes a complimentary glass of prosecco or a non‑alcoholic drink.
