Medici Pope Leo X and his Musicians celebrate CHRISTMAS:1513

RenChorNY, directed by Richard Porterfield presents the magnificent Sacred Music of the great masters of the era.
When Leo X was elected Pope (1513-1521) Vatican Choir had a manuscript of Josquin Despres c.1450-1521 whose (c.1498) Missa "de Beata Virgine" is featured. Pope Leo had a collection of motets made for his nephew the Duke of Urbino on the occasion of his 1518 wedding, the gift known in history as the "Medici Codex". The composers apparently chosen by Jean Mouton (1459-1522), including Josquin, whose work as known and sung for Christmas, along with Antoine Brumel (c1475-1520) and Andres DeSilva will be presented. Later master Cristobal Morales (c1500-1553), and our earliest composer will be Johannes Martini (c.1432-1492), Whose Magnificat (tone2) was part of the Liturgy.
All are Welcome and accessible to the Shrine

*We note The Shrine is easily accessible via A train/190st, and M4 and M98 bus.
*Early travel will allow visiting the adjacent Ft Tryon Park with its trails, views of the Hudson and Palisades, The Cloisters Museum, and Park Cafe.
*Visitors from afar should consider the relatively near uptown Radio Hotel, 2420 Amsterdam Ave, Man.
*Note, for those unable to attend this date, The Same program will be repeated Sunday 12/20/26-4:30pm at Hudson View Gardens lounge, 128 Pinehurst Ave/183rd. Man. It is an intimate space, with a following reception. Sponsored by Performance art Group of HVG.
