About this Event

Healthcare Simulation & Procedural Skills Expo

Hosted in Support of National Capital Region Medical Education and Training Needs

Join us on September 17, 2026, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for a healthcare simulation and procedural skills expo designed to connect clinical educators, military medical leaders, trainees, program directors, and industry partners around real training needs.

This event is being organized by the National Capital Region Military Simulation Consortium – composed of leaders from the Walter Reed, USU, A.T. Augusta and Joint Base Andrews Simulation programs.

This expo is designed around specific simulation and procedural training priorities identified by NCC program Directors, medical educators and program leaders. The goal is to bring forward relevant technologies, task trainers, simulation platforms, and hands-on solutions that support clinical education, patient safety, procedural competency, and military medical readiness.

Event Focus

The expo will highlight technologies and training solutions supporting:

Airway & Respiratory Management

Vendors and attendees will explore solutions for difficult airway management, rapid sequence intubation, fiber-optic bronchoscopy, cricothyrotomy, tracheostomy placement, and ventilator setup, adjustment, and troubleshooting.

Emergency & Trauma Care

The event will include technologies supporting CPR, BLS, ACLS, defibrillation, pacing, mass casualty response, hemorrhage control, chest tube insertion, and trauma readiness.

Surgical & Procedural Skills

Featured areas include laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, minimally invasive navigation, pattern cutting, tissue suturing, endovascular procedures, catheterization, coronary angiography, stent placement, and angioplasty.

Obstetrics & Pediatrics

The expo will include simulation and training solutions for postpartum hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, eclampsia, neonatal resuscitation, pediatric care, and maternal-fetal emergency response.

Specialty Skills & Emerging Needs

Additional requested areas include arthroscopy, lateral canthotomy and cantholysis simulation, ocular ultrasound, MSK ultrasound, cervical and lumbar needle guidance with fluoroscopy, lumbar puncture, bone marrow and IO access, colonoscopy and endoscopy simulation, abscess incision and drainage, pelvic exams, suturing, image-guided biopsy and drain placement, contrast reaction simulation, code blue in MRI, immunizations, and tuberculosis skin test measurement and interpretation.

Who Should Attend

This event is designed for:

  • Physicians
  • Nurses
  • GME Program Directors
  • Simulation center leaders
  • Military medical personnel
  • Medical educators
  • Residents and fellows
  • Healthcare administrators
  • EMS and pre-hospital professionals

Why Attend

Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • See healthcare simulation and procedural skills technologies aligned to current training needs
  • Engage directly with vendors offering relevant simulation and medical education solutions
  • Explore hands-on training tools for airway, trauma, procedural, OB/peds, ultrasound, and specialty skills
  • Network with medical educators, clinicians, military medical personnel, and industry partners
  • Identify solutions that may support future curriculum development, readiness training, and simulation-based education

This event is intended to support meaningful conversations between educators, clinicians, and industry partners so that technology demonstrations are tied directly to real-world training requirements.

Vendor Participation

Vendors are encouraged to participate if they offer products, platforms, training tools, or services that support healthcare simulation, procedural skills, medical readiness, clinical education, or military medical training.

Priority vendor categories include:

  • Full-body patient simulators
  • Task trainers
  • Airway trainers
  • Trauma and hemorrhage-control trainers
  • Surgical and laparoscopic simulation
  • Robotic surgery simulation
  • Endovascular and image-guided procedural simulation
  • Ultrasound simulation and phantoms
  • OB/pediatric/neonatal simulation
  • VR, AR, and XR medical simulation
  • Clinical skills trainers
  • Nursing and preventive-care skills trainers
  • Military medical readiness and pre-hospital care training systems

Vendor space is limited, and priority will be given to companies that align closely with the requested technology and training needs.
