Medical Assistant — Short Term Program

Students will gain experience in:
• Taking patient vital signs
• Assisting providers with exams and procedures
• Administering injections or medications
• Performing EKG, phlebotomy and other essential laboratory procedures
• And MORE!
Program requirements:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Current immunizations and flu shot (estimated cost: $10–$350)
• Criminal background check (estimated cost: $5–$25)
• Three pairs of scrubs (estimated cost: $15–$50 each)
This course is $2,000 per person. Financial assistance is available to West Virginia residents who qualify. Funding and/or a payment plan must be secured by Sept. 25, 2025, two weeks prior to class. A minimum of 8 students is needed to run this course. The course is limited to 20 participants.
The program will run Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 7, 2025 – April 9, 2026, from 6 – 9:30 p.m. at WVU Parkersburg's Innovation & Technology Center.
