Join us at the Goethe-Institut Toronto for the next edition of our Media Mingle series, where we explore the fascinating world of German popular music in the 2020s.
Each month, our Media Lounge becomes a space for cultural discovery and community connection. This time, we will focus on some of Germany’s most exciting artists and influential songs of the 2020s. The decade has been defined by cultural diversity, digital connectivity, and a music landscape in which genre boundaries continue to blur. Pop, hip-hop, indie, electronic music, and international influences increasingly merge to create new and innovative sounds.
Streaming platforms, social media, and short-form video apps have transformed the ways music is discovered and shared more than ever before. At the same time, many artists use their music to explore personal experiences and address themes such as identity, diversity, and social change. We will introduce each featured artist, followed by a listening session with music videos showcasing their work. Lyrics will be provided in both German and English to help you engage with the music. Afterwards, you will have the chance to discuss the music and share your thoughts with fellow attendees.
