About this Event:

Learn the basics of audio editing using Audacity, a free open-source audio editor and recorder to kickstart your creative projects.

Whether you want to craft beats, perfect a podcast or create content, this is a chance to sharpen your sound.

This workshop is for beginners and will provide practical and creative tools to bring sound to life.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Learn the basics of recording, editing, and exporting audio.
  • Use tools like cut, copy, fade, amplify, and noise reduction.
  • Learn how to import audio files and mix multiple tracks
  • Discover how to export your project in various formats for podcasting, voiceovers, or music.


Spaces are limited, so bookings are essential.


Cost: $8.50

Age: $16+

Skill level: No experience required.

Equipment: Attendees are encouraged to bring their own headphones. Over-ear wired headphones are best suited, but not essential. BYO Device ticket holders will also need to bring a laptop with Audacity (v3.7.7) installed. Please email [email protected] if you require assistance.


About the Facilitator:

Neil Ismail is a creative professional with over 15 years of experience in music production, video production, and storytelling. He has mentored aspiring DJs and producers as the former head instructor at DJ Warehouse Sydney, with many of his students achieving successful careers.

About the Media Lab:

The Media Lab boasts a professional studio set up with a cyclorama wall, green screens, studio lights and Surface Studios with the full Adobe Creative Cloud. The digital tool library contains cameras, recording equipment and other digital accessories that can be borrowed for free with your library membership.

  • No refunds for cancellations or missed bookings.
  • Program swapping is not permitted.
  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue.
  • This workshop will not be recorded and cannot be accessed after the scheduled time. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces and repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations, bookings may be refused in the future.
