CHANGE OF DATE: This event is now being held on Thursday, August 20th!
Join us as we celebrate the official groundbreaking of the new Medhurst Park Splash Pad!
After years of planning, fundraising, public consultation and partnership-building, construction is beginning on a project that will bring a new recreational landmark to Tanglewood families for generations to come.
The new splash pad will feature:
💦 Seven interactive water-play features
🌳 New shade trees and landscaping
♿ Accessible design and seating
🎨 A community-selected "Whimsy" theme
🪑 New gathering and seating areas
🛡️ A landscaped safety berm separating the splash pad area from nearby traffic
Before and after the ceremony, children can enjoy a special appearance by Ottawa family entertainer and magician Chris Pilsworth. You can check out his website at https://borntoamaze.com/
The splash pad was selected by residents through a public consultation process and is being designed by Studio Red Landscape Architects, led by Kaja Cerveny, whose portfolio includes the award-winning Sharel Park Splash Pad, Parkdale Market improvements, the Rideau Canal Boardwalk, William Street Renewal and Hintonburg Place Plaza.
