Psychedelic rock has always promised escape—but Meatbodies hit different. Over the last decade, Chad Ubovich has pushed the genre somewhere more visceral: louder, sharper, and fully alive. What started as a feral offshoot orbiting the Ty Segall universe evolved into something heavier and more transportive—music built not to drift away, but to survive impact.
After years of relentless touring, personal collapse, recovery, and rebuilding, Meatbodies returned with a renewed sense of urgency. In a city known as a thriving ecosystem for musicians of all origins, the outbreak left a cold, a hole, what felt like an empty space that after had to find a way to begin filling and healing itself again. It was in these conditions that H E A T came to be. Like a fever,
H E A T settled in slowly, over time, too slow to notice early on and too fast to do anything about once you did. In dark rooms, bars, practice spaces, basements and within the confines of any nicotine-stain walled room,
H E A T began to wash over San Francisco, attracting showgoers who were ready to return to life, music and the community. Enthralled by H E A T’s fuzz influences and they’re dynamic quiet-loud song styles that infuse a wave of nostalgia for the acid dipped garage rock of the late 60’s and 70’s that put San Francisco on the map with the energy of San Francisco’s punk and garage rock of the early 2010’s.
