Mean Girls: High School Version Description:
Mean Girls is a fearless musical about chasing popularity and being true to yourself.
The Plastics have deemed us worthy of their presence! This "fetch" musical from book writer Tina Fey (30 Rock), lyricist Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde) and composer Jeff Richmond (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) is packed with keen wit, an undeniably catchy score, and a sincere message for everyone. Adapted from Fey's 2004 blockbuster film and the Broadway smash hit.
Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home in suburbia. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the ruthless Regina George. But when Cady and her friends devise a "Revenge Party" to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.
**Please note, Mean Girls has a rating of PG-13**
Available Roles:
Cady Heron
Arrives at North Shore High a clueless transfer student but is quickly wrapped up in brutal social politics. Though at her core Cady is levelheaded, self-assured, and kind, when she goes undercover with the Plastics, she becomes unrecognizable.
Vocal range top: E5
Vocal range bottom: G2
Janis Sarkisian
Marches to the beat of her own drum and, with Damian, narrates throughout the show. After a falling-out with Regina in middle school, she became a bit of a social outcast and still holds a grudge against Regina. Damian is her best friend and lovingly refers to her as his “art freak.”
Vocal range top: D5
Vocal range bottom: A3
Damian Hubbard
Outgoing and an active member of the student activities committee, Damian is a fiercely loyal friend to Janis and they have the close rapport of a comedy team. Damian is smart, witty, and confident and occasionally serves as the show’s narrator. He is load and proud and boldly self identifies as gay.
Vocal range top: G5
Vocal range bottom: Bb3
Regina George
The undisputed Queen Bee of North Shore High School, and she knows
it. She’s confident, clever, and completely unbothered by anyone else’s opinion. While Regina purposefully manipulates everyone around her (including her own mom), at her heart, she’s trying to fit in, just like everyone else. *This character has intimacy*
Vocal range top: Eb5
Vocal range bottom: Ab3
Gretchen Wieners
One of the Plastics. Desperate to please Regina and to maintain her position in the Plastics, Gretchen is a nervous wreck. Her fragility at times is heartbreaking. She takes the Plastics very seriously and is completely controlled by Regina, until Cady comes along. She is also “FETCH!”
Vocal range top: E5
Vocal range bottom: G2
Karen Smith
The third member of the Plastics. While Karen’s lack of intelligence is a running joke throughout the show, she sees the other girls more clearly than most people and is the most laid back of the three. Karen is kind, loyal, trustworthy and a generous laugher. *This character shares sensitive information of a personal nature that may be triggering to some*
Vocal range top: D#5
Vocal range bottom: G2
Aaron Samuels
A nice guy who has no idea that he’s the high school heartthrob. He’s not immune to all the female attention he gets, but he’s not going to let himself be a pawn in their chess game either. Broadway and pop tenor. *This character has intimacy*
Vocal range top: E5
Vocal range bottom: B3
Kevin G.
Kevin is the extremely driven captain of the North Shore Mathletes. He is a confident and outgoing student. As well a DJ and rapper.
Mrs. Heron
Mrs. Heron is Cady’s intellectual mom who can’t understand why her daughter is devolving before her eyes.
Mrs. George
Mrs. George is Regina’s “cool mom.” She’s desperate to look young and feel like one of the teens. She’s also desperate for Regina not to repeat her mistakes.
Ms. Norbury
Ms. Norbury is Cady’s world-weary and sarcastic Calculus teacher who pushes Cady to be her best self.
Mr. Duvall
The school principal. Like Ms. Norbury, he’s seen it all, although he’s slightly more formal and sincere.
