Meadville Historic Home and Garden Tour

Would you like to see inside some of the buildings that made Meadville and Crawford County?
Now's your chance! Sponsored by the Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Howard Hanna Bainbridge Kaufman Real Estate, the fourth annual tour is less than a month away!The Crawford County Historical Society is excited to present Meadville's Historic Home and Garden tour on June 20th from 10am through 4pm.

Sign In/Registration will take place at the Society's headquarters at the James and Elizabeth Tarr Mansion at 869 Diamond Park. Participants will receive an arm band, event shirt, and program booklet featuring photographs, history, and map to get them to over a dozen historic homes, gardens, commercial buildings, churches, and more. Property owners or volunteers will meet you as you work your way around town from one site to the next to give you tours of each property. Participants can decide which property to visit in which order, allowing them to customize their tour based on their interest and how busy each location is at that time.
Tour locations include:
-The David Mead Log Cabin - Reproduction of David Mead's settlement in 1788
-Livermore/Theological Presidents/Moutsos/Deshner House - Former home of the presidents of the Meadville Theological School, including President Abiel Abbot Livermore who served from 1863-1890. The home was also inhabited by Spero Moutsos and Geroge Deshner during the 20th/21st century.
-Founders House - Site of the first courthouse in Crawford County, where Allegheny College and the Chamber of Commerce were founded. The current structure was built in 1904.
Mount Hope: The Baldwin-Reynolds House Museum - Former Home of United States Supreme Court Justice Henry Baldwin
-Shryock Park and Gardens - guided tour of the former home as well as the Liberty Tree and A250 Bell
-Holland Hall/Phi Delta Theta House/Green Frog Studios - Tour of the building, its history dating back to slavery and its building in 1809, and how its being actively brought back to life
-Cussewage Square/Former Race Street Lumber/Former Meadville Rye - The former home of Meadville Rye Whiskey Distiller is numberous historic brick buildings with a new life, art, theater, dining options, and frozen yogurt!
-Meadville Public Library - guided tour of the library - designed by the same architect as Ellis Island in New York, this building has been a community fixture for a century...but have you seen the attic?
-The Magaw House & The Whiting/Lawrence House Gardens - these gorgeous structures on Terrace Street featuing a breathtaking set of gardens behind them which few get to see, unless you're on the tour!
-Holland Hall Carriage House - Carriage House Inn Bed and Breakfast - the former carriage house of the Arthur Clarke and Frances Reynolds Huidekoper House, this home is barn turned gorgeous sleeping and event space
-The Meadville Market House - Built in 1870, its the oldest continuously operating market house in Pennsylvania...but have you seen the nooks and crannies? Come learn about its past, do some shopping, and hear the exciting plans for restoration that are on the horizon!
-The Statues of and History of Diamond Park - From the Shippen Fountain, to the cannons, to the three statues, plaques, boulders and more, learn the history of our town square in the county seat!
-The David Mead/Geroge Selden/DeArment House - From the founder of the first settlement in northwest Pennsylvania to the creator of Champion DeArment/Channellock Tools, see the front hall and common area of this Meadville landmark!
