MEADOW SONG: An open-air performance of myth & music, from Irish folklore
About this Event
Join us for MEADOW SONG: a bardic performance in the meadow, with original songs & tales from Irish folk tradition.
Resident artist Juju Lane presents a theatrical retelling of The Tale of Airmed's Cloak - a poignant story of familial bonds and betrayal, drawn from ancient Irish mythology. Woven with site-responsive themes of botany & burial grounds, the tale reminds us of nature's healing powers - and of what happens when we stray too far from the green...
A rare opportunity to experience theater at this extraordinary outdoor venue: floating upon the boardwalk in the native pollinator meadow of Brooklyn's Naval Cemetery.
A reception will follow the show.
MEADOW SONG is free and open to the public; made possible with support from Nature Sacred and the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative.

About the Artist: Juju Lane is a multidisciplinary artist & writer, and 2026 Artist in Residence at Greenway Botanical Garden. The body, its senses, and reclaimed urban spaces inspire her work. This original play MEADOW SONG draws from her Irish heritage and fieldwork in anthropology of religion, researching indigenous Pagan spirituality & folk medicine traditions in Ireland.
As a community forest bathing guide, Juju has been leading public sensory programs along the Greenway since 2024. When she's not listening to birdsong in the meadow, she collaborates with perfumers and sensory scientists - her favorite scent is moss after rain.
