Two winning entries from the Marshalltown Community Theatre's 2026 Playwriting Competition will be presented on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 7:00 p.m., at the Orpheum movie theatre venue.
Both of this year's winning plays confront the problems of “writer’s block” and the challenge of writing for the theatre—and the authors respond by crafting two delightful original comedies, How Not to Write a Play by William L. Bowman Jr., of Ottumwa, Iowa and The Problem with Writing a Play by Evelynn Buck of Marshalltown.
