Join us for a keynote lecture by Dr Tom Kisby on the CRUK Career Development Fellowship Award, a prestigious funding opportunity that supports the next generation of independent cancer researchers.

Dr Kisby will discuss the aims of the fellowship, the type of research vision it is designed to back, and how the award can help researchers establish independence, build collaborations, and develop ambitious programmes in cancer research.

The session will also include time for questions about the award, the application process, and how to develop a competitive fellowship proposal.

This event is open to researchers, clinicians, and PhD students, as well as anyone with an interest in neuro-oncology, translational cancer research, nanomedicine, and innovative approaches to treating aggressive brain tumours.

Dr Tom Kisby is a Research Fellow in the Division of Neuroscience at The University of Manchester. He completed his PhD in Regenerative Medicine before undertaking postdoctoral research in cancer nanotechnology within the Nanomedicine Lab.

He later moved into an independent junior Principal Investigator role within the Centre for Nanotechnology in Medicine, where his research focused on developing drug delivery technologies for aggressive brain tumours, with a particular emphasis on advanced preclinical models. He was recently awarded a CRUK Career Development Fellowship to support the development of non-invasive strategies to prevent the rapid early recurrence of glioblastoma. Working in close collaboration with colleagues across the MCRC, the GJBRC, The Christie, and Salford Royal, his research aims to deliver clinically translatable solutions to a longstanding unmet need in this devastating disease.
