McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church cordially invites you to a special musical performance of John Rutter's "Magnificat", presented by the McFarlin Chancel Choir with orchestra, and guest soloist Nicole Van Every, soprano. Service times will be 8:30 AM and 11AM in the sanctuary.
This landmark work of sacred choral music is a modern interpretation of the ancient Magnificat text, also known as the "Song of Mary." Rather than a purely solemn setting, Rutter was inspired by the joyful, outdoor festivals honoring Mary in Spain and Latin America, and his composition reflects that exuberant energy.
The work moves between moments of celebration and moments of profound, quiet beauty. Rutter famously weaves in a separate, 15th-century poem, "Of a Rose, a lovely Rose," to create a gentle, reflective interlude. It will be a powerful and uplifting worship experience for all.
