Speaker Details

Thursday (All Day) - Dr. Leyton Schnellert from the University of British Columbia grounds his work in diversity, equity, and inclusion, shaped by his experience growing up as the son of two Blind parents. His research focuses on how educators can create truly inclusive classrooms by moving beyond deficit-based models and embracing place-conscious, culturally responsive practices. As co-director of the Canadian Institute for Inclusion and Citizenship, Dr. Schnellert collaborates with communities and self-advocates to advance inclusive education and research. At this year’s conference, he will share practical strategies and insights to help teachers better support all learners in diverse classrooms.

Friday (AM) - Dr. Marc Kuly is an Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Teacher Education at the University of Winnipeg. With 15 years of experience in Winnipeg’s inner-city schools, his research and teaching focus on the power of storytelling to make schools more inclusive and responsive, particularly in cross-cultural and Indigenous contexts. At this year’s conference, Dr. Kuly will share insights from his work on how stories can strengthen relationships, foster equity, and transform classroom practice through decolonial approaches.

Friday (PM) - Angela Taylor is a mental health and accessibility expert with 25+ years of experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and families. A multiply neurodivergent foster care alum and parent, she combines lived experience with professional expertise to advance inclusion. Angela is the author of five books and a recognized leader in neurodiversity, disability, and mental health advocacy. She is a PhD candidate researching meaningful care in neurodivergent communities and holds a Master’s in Disability Studies. Angela is the founder of Inspire Community Outreach and Supporting Community Together, working nationally to promote inclusive, supportive environments through consultation, training, and community-based services. Through clinical consultation, training, and community-based support, Angela continues to drive change and empower those she serves.
