McCaskey East Tree Planting & Celebration Event

Come help get trees in the ground! We need lots of help to plant, mulch and stake over 45 native trees. All these trees will help make McCaskey East be an even happier place for students and our wild critter friends like birds and butterflies!

This project is supported by:

• Let's Go 1-2-3 and the McCaskey East Tree Team
• the Mira Lloyd Dock Award which gave money to Keisha and Tarsha Scovens and Marlisa Yoder-Bontrager for tree planting
• a Tree Pennsylvania grant for 15 bare root trees
• Orsi Lazar with the PA Department of Conservation and Nature Resources
• the Frank Albrecht Memorial fund. This fund honors the late Frank Albrecht who passionately made a difference in the lives of McCaskey students, fellow teachers, and his community. We’ll have a brief celebration and light refreshments in honor of Frank before our tree planting.

If you’ve never planted a tree before, no problem! Tree expert Orsi Lazar will show us how to plant and tell us more about the native trees we’re putting in the ground.

Pick up a FREE native tree or shrub to take home! Plus, learn more about native trees and shrubs in Lancaster. 

Volunteers are needed to:

• dig holes and plant native trees (46 trees are bare root)
• stake trees
• mulch trees

 What to bring if you have them: (we will have extra tools and gloves available)

• shovel
• work gloves
• water bottle
• a smile (required)

What else? Dress for the weather. Wear protective shoes.

Weather plan: If it's rainy we’ll postpone until Saturday, November 16, 10 am - 1 pm.
