This interactive EMS education program will involve students having hands on education managing airways on fresh frozen cadaver tissue. We will practice many different airway procedures that are directly related to airway management in the EMS field. Being able to practice how we work is directly related to quality patient care. This airway and heart lab will explore how the respiratory system works from the inside out. This program applies anatomy and physiology to direct field care and gives EMS responders a chance to see how the respiratory system works by directly looking, touching and even injuring lung tissue. We will also look at the inside of the heart and coronary vessels that encase the heart. This is fun and interactive class and benefits all license levels in EMS. We will be conducting both basic and advanced airway procedures in this program depending on our student body make up. This education opportunity will include gross anatomy of the anterior chest cavity with the chance to handle organs located in the mediastinal cavity. There will be a short PowerPoint presentation prior to moving to the specimen lab. This allows us to review and update the students on airway advancements that are occurring within our profession. Come and enjoy an interactive and educational experience without the pressure of test and evaluation.
