May Bird Walk at Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve (Folly Beach)

Join us for a fun day of bird watching this May through the forest and onto the drift wood beach and marshes as we look for some beach birds! Whether you're a seasoned birder or just curious, come join our Feminist Bird Club Charleston Chapter community!

We will plan to meet at the entrance to Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve (LIHP), where the gate is. IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:

• There is an honor system for admission for LIHP. It is $1 per person or free with a valid CCPRC Gold Pass.
• There is free parking on the streets surrounding the park. Check out parking rules for Folly Beach for more information.
• We are planning to start at 8:30 am in hopes of avoiding Folly Beach Traffic but please take beach traffic into consideration
• While we're hoping to beat some of the heat with an earlier start, please come preapred with sun protection (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses) and water/electrolytes as we will be exposed to sun for a majority of our walk.

During this event we will plan to walk a total of approximately two miles over two and a half hours. As always, this is our current plan but we are happy to adjust to best support our participants' abilities.

After the event, if anyone is interested, we'll convene for an optional social at a spot on Folly after, based on the group's preferences. Chico Feo, Revelry Brewing, Lowlife, and Bounty Bar are all solid contenders!

Additional Accessibility Notes:

There are no restrooms available on site. The initial path to the beach is paved, but we will be traversing sandy and uneven terrain once on the beach.
