From simple to complex cases... this two-day course with Dr Shiraz Khan aims to expand on all things Icon and composite bonding
About this Event

Don't miss our flagship event in Hamburg on 3-4 December 2026, where world-renowned expert Shiraz Khan takes centre stage to share his pioneering approach to minimally invasive, evidence-based aesthetic dentistry. From the science of Icon resin infiltration to contemporary whitening and seamless composite integration, discover how to confidently diagnose, treatment plan, and conservatively manage enamel defects while mastering the art of aesthetic restoration for anterior and posterior teeth.

Join us for an unforgettable event where cutting-edge clinical insight, hands-on learning, and genuine hospitality combine in one of Europe's most inspiring destinations.

14 hours verifiable CPD

Educational Aims

This course aims to provide dental professionals with a comprehensive, evidence-based understanding of minimally invasive aesthetic therapies. It focuses on the science and clinical application of Icon resin infiltration, contemporary tooth whitening and aesthetic composite integration. This will enable practitioners to confidently diagnose, treatment plan, and conservatively manage various enamel defects, and optimise the process of aesthetic integration of anterior and posterior composite restorations.

Course Objectives

To achieve these aims, the course will:

  • Explain the optical physics (matching refractive indices) and material science of resin infiltration
  • Establish clear, safe protocols for vital tooth whitening and its chronological sequencing with infiltration therapies
  • Analyse distinct clinical protocols for treating fluorosis, molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH), post-orthodontic decalcification, and traumatic hypomineralisation
  • Detail robust consent pathways, risk-benefit communication, and managing patient expectations
  • Provide step-by-step clinical guidance for both vestibular (aesthetic zone) and proximal (interproximal caries)infiltration
  • Outline Dr Shiraz Khan's workflows for direct adhesive and aesthetic composite restorations
  • Teach advanced finishing and polishing workflows to achieve seamless aesthetic integration.

Hands-On Practical Components

Under direct tutor guidance, participants will engage in simulated clinical exercises to master the following practical skills:

  • Isolation mastery: Precision rubber dam placement optimised for resin infiltration, ensuring flawless moisture control
  • Vestibular and Proximal infiltration protocol: Step-by-step execution of the vestibular Icon protocol (erosion, dehydration, infiltration) on simulated anterior teeth
  • Anterior and posterior composite layering technique: Correct placement and utilization of proximal wedges and specialized applicator tips on posterior
  • Surface refinement: Executing specialised finishing and polishing protocols to restore natural enamel luster and contour
  • Case planning integration: Practical exercises sequencing tooth whitening into multi-disciplinary aesthetic restorative treatment plans.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Critically assess and diagnose: Confidently identify, classify, and select appropriate enamel defects suitable for micro-invasive resin infiltration
  • Synthesise treatment sequences: Seamlessly integrate vital tooth whitening into cosmetic workflows, optimising both timing and biological safety
  • Execute advanced clinical protocols: Predictably perform both proximal and vestibular Icon infiltration procedures with high technical precision. In addition to master layering protocols for anterior and posterior composite restorations
  • Implement strict moisture control: Consistently achieve the absolute dry-field isolation required for successful resin bonding and infiltration
  • Manage risk and limitations: Recognise the boundaries of resin infiltration, identify when adjunctive composite restorations are necessary, and manage patient expectations realistically
  • Deliver conservative sesthetics: Cultivate the clinical confidence to treat aesthetic defects with maximum preservation of healthy tooth structure
  • Comply with legal frameworks: Fully understand and adhere to UK regulations and legal frameworks regarding the prescription and delivery of tooth whitening.
