Max Meisel: The L.A. Sober Tour

New York-born, Los Angeles-based comedian Max Meisel makes his Palm Springs headlining debut at Spirit Animal with his first national tour, The L.A. Sober Tour.

Despite the name, the tour isn't about sobriety—it's about surviving Los Angeles while staying true to his New York roots. Sharp, self-deprecating, and relentlessly funny, Max delivers an hour of stories about culture clashes, family dysfunction, football dreams gone sideways, and the absurdity of trying to make it in comedy.

Max recently featured for Tom Arnold on a 60-city stand-up tour across the United States and Canada. He is also the creator and host of BackDoor Comedy, a monthly comedy experience blending stand-up, music, dancing, food pop-ups, and a social mixer. The event has been featured on E! News and has appeared at both the New York Comedy Festivaland the Netflix Is A Joke Festival.

A former walk-on football player at Syracuse University, Max still insists he was destined to play for the New York Giants—despite being a 5'4" Jewish punt returner with more concussions than touchdowns. When he's not on stage, he's solo traveling, searching for great Italian food, or enjoying the inevitable arguments that erupt during family holidays, weddings, bar mitzvahs, and every other celebration.

Spirit Animal, located inside Hotel Zoso, is Palm Springs' premier live entertainment venue. Formerly Pretty Faces and Sirocco Nightclub, the space has been been reimagined as a retro-inspired psychedelic supper club featuring state-of-the-art sound and lighting, comfortable seating, and a non-smoking atmosphere designed for unforgettable live performances.
