Pumpkin Hollow Arts Center is delighted to announce a series of movement and dance workshops led by acclaimed New York City choreographer and performance artist Maureen Fleming. The world renowned artist was granted a Guggenheim Fellowship to create new site-specific choreography in Upstate NY, inspired by the paintings of Georgia O' Keeffe and a 'process book' bringing to light her choreography for photography.

Also, we are thrilled to announce that In Fall 2024, Maureen Fleming Company's "The Alchemist's Veil", a sensuous celebration of mystical femininity across generations will premiere at La MaMa E.T.C. in NYC~ October 17th- 27th, 2024, accompanied by a book signing of her revolutionary book: Maureen Fleming.

In an ecstatic review of her extraordinary performance in , The New York Times said she ‘seemed to transcend the material world and enter the world of pure spirit’. The New York Theater Review was equally impressed, suggesting that Fleming ‘continually transcends theatrical expectations and constructs a state of perpetual presence … not unlike the effect of viewing the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls’.

Pumpkin Hollow Arts Center, will host a series of six workshops with Maureen Fleming. Beginning on Thursday, August 1 - Sunday, August 4, 2024 and are open to everyone. No previous experience is required, but places are strictly limited.

In addition to her work as a dancer and choreographer, Fleming has developed new techniques of regenerative work for anyone interested in developing movement through workshops that improve strength, alignment, flexibility and balance.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Maureen Fleming is a choreographer and performance artist renowned for her original form of visual theater. With the discipline of a classicist and the imagination of an iconoclast Fleming connects culture and art forms in an interdisciplinary celebration of femininity and the universality of the soul’s journey. A Guggenheim Fellow and Fulbright Scholar to Ireland, S. Korea, Colombia, and Latvia her solo and group works have toured spanning five continents including the Spoleto Festival in Italy, FILO Festival Brazil, Performing America’s Tour: Colombia, Argentina and Uruguay, the O’Shaughnessy Women of Substance Series in St. Paul, Jacob’s Pillow Festival, Emerson Majestic and Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, La MaMa and Irish Arts Center and NY City Center Fall for Dance Festival.
