This year we will be combining all our Maundy Thursday observances into a single service, seeking to use our liturgy to walking in the footsteps of Jesus on the night of the Last Supper. We will begin by gathering at 6:00 PM in Jones Chapel for an Agape Meal, an informal fellowship meal. At the end of dinner, we will celebrate the Eucharist using the bread and wine of the table, just as Jesus did when he instituted the Lord's Supper. Then, like Jesus leading his disciples to the Garden of Gethsemane, we will process into the church for a ceremony of foot washing and a solemn Stripping of the Altar, before departing in silence.
