MATTY GRACEhttps://exclaim.ca/music/article/matty_grace_is_the_new_face_of_old-school_punk
Since the term was invented, people have fought over the definition of "punk." Is it a subculture? A scene? A look? A class? A sound? No matter which side you're on, you can probably agree on one thing: Matty Grace is truly punk. Most of the Ottawa scenester's songs run less than three minutes, and are bound to contain impassioned vocals, catchy riffs, and lyrics that rail against gentrification, alienation, transphobia and capitalism. Off-stage, her life is a push and pull between trying to be in as many projects as possible (because her bandmates can't keep up with her inexhaustible output) and paying the bills.
SPENCER JO
spencerjo.com
Canadian artist Spencer Jo isn't interested in sugarcoating things. In fact, they spent much of their musical life searching for sour truth and throwing the spotlight onto it. They've been in and out of punk bands since the age of 16 and the winding road has lead to Spencer Jo’s current incarnation as a folk artist with a sometimes political, sometimes surreal edge that makes their social commentary poignant for anyone who listens. Their talent as an instrumentalist and lyricist are showcased in a way that keeps the music free of distracted bravado and long solos, ensuring the convictions remain at the centre of attention. The marriage of punk and folk mixes elements of artistry and honesty after all, and Spencer Jo completes this synthesis without disappointing. Spencer also plays in Quit It!
MARGARET TRACTEUR

Drawing from a few thousand kilometers of hitchhiking and several years of busking, armed with a banjo, a kazoo and a tambourine, Margaret Tracteur blends fundamental ingredients of American folk with a good dose of freedom and a dash of humor juxtaposing bluegrass, swing and chanson québécoise. It all started with a six-month journey through North America that led her to play across Canada, in Oregon, California, Florida and Mexico before returning to her home province and play festivals such as Les Francofolies de Montréal, FME, Festivoix of Trois-Rivières, Carnaval of Québec, Festif! of Baie St-Paul and have her band chosen as the house band for the Gala de la Musique Indépendante du Québec in 2023. Margaret also plays in SCARE.
