Twee jaar geleden gaf Matthieu Acosta met z’n kwartet al eens een spetterende voorstelling in De X, en nu is hij terug met een nieuw programma, deze keer met een quintet.
Equilibrio heet het programma, met nieuw gecomponeerde muziek door Matthieu Acosta. Deze composities zijn geïnspireerd zijn door elementen uit andere muzikale idiomen, zoals uit de klassieke muziek, Braziliaanse muziek, traditionele muziek uit Zuid-Amerika, maar zonder dat zij breken met de duidelijke kaders van flamenco.
Dankzij zijn Arubaanse roots brengt Matthieu Acosta een volstrekt uniek perspectief, zonder de eeuwenoude ziel van de flamenco uit het oog te verliezen. Het resultaat is een vernieuwend geluid dat bezielt en verrast. Geen wonder dat de legendarische grootmeester Paco Peña vol lof is over zijn sterdiscipel:

Op het podium zie je vijf sterke persoonlijkheden die elkaar uitdagen en versterken. Blikvanger is de internationaal gevierde flamencodanseres Irene Álvarez. Met haar fabelachtige techniek, elegantie en rauwe kracht weet zij de muziek te vertalen in bezielde bewegingen die je vanaf de eerste seconde grijpen.

Two years ago, Matthieu Acosta gave a fantastic performance with his quartet at De X, and now he is back with a new program, this time with a quintet.
The program is called Equilibrio, featuring newly composed music by Matthieu Acosta. These compositions are inspired by elements from other musical idioms, such as classical music, Brazilian music, and traditional South American music, but without breaking with
the clear boundaries of flamenco.
Thanks to his Aruban roots, Matthieu Acosta brings a completely unique perspective, without losing sight of the centuries-old soul of flamenco. The result is an innovative sound that inspires and surprises. No wonder the legendary grandmaster Paco Peña is full of
praise for his star disciple: "I hear flamenco that engages me; new music expressed in my own language. And I can also hear that Matthieu is just being completely himself."
On stage, you see five strong personalities who challenge and strengthen each other. The eye catcher is the internationally acclaimed flamenco dancer Irene Álvarez. With her fabulous technique, elegance, and raw power, she manages to translate the music into soulful movements that captivate you from the very first second.
